THE WINERY
THE STORY OF A FAMILY
SINCE 1456
The Counts of Lodron settled in the Lagarina Valley in 1456.
From that moment on they played a crucial part in the ever-changing history of the region.
In the 16th century the Palazzo Lodron was constructed on existing building's walls.
Count Nicolò Lodron is the first owner to reconstruct the present buildings. His life-size statue stands in a niche above the main entrance.
More construction was carried out through 1628 - with Santino Solari, the architect of Salzburg cathedral, in charge. Commissioned by Paris Lodron, then Prince Archbishop of Salzburg, Solari rebuilt and adapted the entire building and added the private family chapel.
Mozart visited Rovereto on his way to Italy in 1769.
The young musician delighted and inspired his audiences in several palaces of the trading town.
In the beginning of the 1990ies the Volpini de Maestri family opened the palace for public events. The descendants of the counts of Lodron go to great lengths to maintain and renovate this historic place. The winery Palazzo Lodron was founded in 2016.
